Justin Yifu Lin to deliver OXCEP Distinguished Speaker Lecture

China's best-known economist, Justin Yifu Lin (Peking University), will deliver the next Oxford Chinese Economy Programme (OXCEP) Distinguished Speaker Lecture at St Edmund Hall on Friday 17 October  at 5pm in the College's Doctorow Hall. He will speak on the topic of 'China’s Rise and Structural Transformation in Africa: Ideas and Opportunities'.

Justin Yifu Lin is currently Professor and Honorary Dean at the National School of Development at Peking University, and vice-chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce. He was the Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of the World Bank, 2008-2012. Prior to joining the Bank he served for fifteen years as founding Director and Professor of the China Centre for Economic Research (CCER) at Peking University.

He is the author of 24 books including Against the Consensus: Reflections on the Great Recession,The Quest for Prosperity: How Developing Countries can Take Off, New Structural Economics: A Framework for Rethinking Development and Policy, Demystifying the Chinese Economy, and Economic Development and Transition: Thought, Strategy and Viability.

Justin Yifu Lin is much sought after as a top economic adviser, both within and beyond China. He has received honorary doctoral degrees from six international universities and is a corresponding fellow of the British Academy.
