Peking University, Beijing, March 3, 2009: The lectures titled "Chinese Folklore During the May 4th Movement", given by Wang Juan, Associate Professor of the Department of Literature, was held in Room 105 of the Science Building in the evening of February 27th. It is the first of the series of lectures launched by the Youth League of Peking University for 90 anniversary of "May 4th Movement".
Peking University students, representatives of college students of Beijing, held demonstrations on May 4, 1919, which became the initiator of the "May 4th Movement". The period of the Movement is worth studying, not only because it was a period of rapid conversion in China's politics and economy, but also for the reason that it caused a revolution in society, culture and so on. The series launched for the 90th anniversary of the "May 4th Movement" would conduct a comprehensive review and analysis for this important historical event in different perspectives.
