Peking University, Beijing, Dec. 9, 2009: From December 5 to 6, the 2009 Beijing College Table Tennis Championship was held at Beijing Foreign Studies University. The table tennis team of Peking University (PKU) won a big victory in the championship to get five champion titles.

Under the rules of the game, PKU team was incorporated into group A to take part in the men’s team, women’s team, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, men’s singles, and women’s singles. This group was full of strong competitors because it included the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications team, who have won four championship titles in the previous championship. The previous world champion-Liu Wei, also the head coach, had held preparation meetings before the championship to analyze their rivals, find their own shortcomings, form a detailed training plan and a comprehensive strategy. Prof. Yue Sulan, Vice-President of PKU, He Guang’an, Director of the Department of Physical Education, and Liu Zheng, Vice-Director of Department of Physical Education, also held the pep rally to ask the players to make sufficient preparation for the championship and to encourage them to strive for honor with confidence as well.

 

With the team members’ hard work, both the men’s group, including Liu Miao, Zhou Zhengqing, Chen Yimo, Liu Zongyu, and Ren Suiyuan, and the women’s group, including Yang Liu, Gao Xi, Liu Kailun, Wang Ye, and Yuan Wen, defeated the Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications team and won the champions. In the following matches, Liu Miao-Chen Yimo and Yang Liu-Wang Ye won the men’s doubles and women’s doubles respectively. Then, Liu Kailun, Gao Xi, and Yang Liu all entered the semi-final of the women’s single, and won all three titles of this competition. The PKU Table Tennis Team won five championship titles in all during the six competitions of this championship.
