BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) -- China's Xinhua News Agency and Peking University (PKU) agreed on Wednesday set up a committee to manage the PKU School of Journalism and Communication.
The two will strive to turn the school into a globally recognized institution, said officials from both sides. A think tank on international communication research is also planned.
The PKU school was founded in 2001, but the history of journalism education dated back to 1918 when the university established the nation's first journalism research institute.
