Journey to Peking University: PKU strives to ensure safety of new PKUers

Peking University, September 2, 2020: On September 1, Peking University welcomed a new batch of freshmen. As part of regular epidemic prevention and control measures and in line with the Beijing Municipal Government’s guidelines, Peking University has established 11 specialized working groups in preparation for the new academic year.
PKU Computer Center has provided top-notch technical support in facilitating the registration of new students. The Smart Epidemic Prevention Platform encompasses all stages of a student’s journey. The platform is also able to detect cases of overcrowding to minimize the risks faced by faculty and students alike.

The Security Department of Peking University has also stepped up campus security by strengthening entry/exit management. For example, students have to report before leaving campus for contact tracing purposes. Since January 2020, the Security Department has been consistently disinfecting working areas and living quarters of security guards three times a day to ensure a high standard of hygiene. At the same time, the Security Department has strengthened publicity efforts online and offline to familiarize students with the latest epidemic prevention measures.
