Peking University, Beijing, May 28: On the morning of May 26th, president of Hong Kong Chinese University Liu Zunyi, and the president-elect Shen Zuyao visited Peking University. PKU President Zhou Qifeng welcomed the guests in Linhu Building. Vice-president Li Yansong, the director of the Yuanpei College Xu Chongren and the director of College of Information Science and Technology, the deputy director of the college of Physics Gong Qihuang attended the meeting.
President Zhou first warmly welcomed the visiting mission from Hong Kong Chinese University and briefly introduced the schools and departments of Peking University. Looking back on the tradition of academic exchanges and close cooperation between the two universities, Zhou hoped that the areas of communications can be expanded and the level of cooperation could be enhanced to a new level.
President Liu expressed the gratitude to PKU for the warm welcome and the support provided for its liaison office at Beijing. He reflected upon the history of academic exchanges which dated back to the 1980s. Through the visit this time, he wished to broaden the cooperation in student instruction and scientific research.
The president-elect of Hong Kong Chinese University Shen Zuyao showed great confidence in expanding cooperation between the two universities, especially in the subjects of medicine and humanity. He also suggested that more exchange activities be initiated to promote communication between the students and scholars from the both universities.
