Peking University, Sept. 9, 2011: If Peking University News used to be the exclusive window into the university, now the audience has another state-of-the-art option.
“@BeidaNews” (Beida Zhichuang), the all-media group under PKU News, has verified its Weibo account.
Akin to a hybrid of Twitter and Facebook, the Chinese microblogging site “Sina Weibo” is one of the most popular sites, counting over 200 million registered users.
The all-media group operates much more beyond the “V” that stands for a status symbol of the Weibo account. The News will continue showing readers on campus how tightly they are connected to international trends and events, as well as introducing to the rest of the globe a Peking University (PKU, or Beida as it is known to many) filled with character and brimming with knowledge to share.
PKU News is a platform for expression and communication in which a characteristically wide range of opinions and views are tolerated. However, the News acknowledge but one purpose: the pursuit of good journalism.
With the power of social media, more interactions with the audience — students, faculty and staff members, alumni, and more — are expected, and encouraged.
In a word, the "V" stands for vision and responsibility.
Welcome to follow @BeidaNews — just as how you follow the Peking University News.
