Peking University, Mar. 1, 2012: Peking University Library announces that it has extended opening hours of its multimedia service to meet the students’ need, including the multimedia conference room and the multimedia learning center. Teachers and students are welcome to use these facilities on evenings and weekends in addition to normal working hours, in an effort to better facilitate academic communication and make existing electronic resources more accessible.

The multimedia conference room located in W205 is designed as a public symposium place for academic activities with up to 30 people or so. It is equipped with advanced technologies including projector, electronic white board, large screen display, CCTV, sound equipment, cable network, wireless network, DVD player and computers etc. Instructions are available upon request. The service is free of charge for teachers and students of PKU, but the room needs to be reserved online in advance: http://ipatron.lib.pku.edu.cn/

The multimedia learning center, a place for both entertaining and learning, enjoys great popularity among PKU students. It was first opened on February 27, 1995, and since provides abundant up-to-date digital resources including academic lectures, language learning programs, encyclopedia, classic movie and music, just to name a few. Most of these resources are accessible online though the library’s web from anywhere on campus, though on site, students can enjoy more convenient services and more resources such as CDs. Again, the service is free of charge using a school ID card. The multimedia learning center is located in W201.

PKU library has always been improving, tailoring its services to readers’ needs. It has become increasingly digitalized over the years, talking advantages of IT technologies. Text service, wireless services, mobile phone service are some of its latest moves. The library has become an important part of PKUers’ lives, just as the landmark itself.

The library’s opening hours are:
8:00-22:00 Monday to Friday
9:00-12:00 Saturday
9:00-21:00 Sunday
