Peking University. Beijing. Dec 5: The celebration of the tenth anniversary of Macao's return to China’s closing ceremony was held in Peking University’s Centennial Memorial Auditorium on December 5th. The series of the celebration was jointly held by Macao university students in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Macao and Taiwan. Beijing. Where as the final station of the activities was organized by PKU Macao Cultural Exchange Association, Beijing Macao Students Union and Macao Youth League in People's University of China.
Mr. Qin Tieying, director of the Beijing Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macao SAR, presented and addressed the ceremony. He hoped that the activities could promote mainland students’ understanding of Macao and strengthen the friendship between students from the mainland and Macao.
The two hour performance by Macao and mainland students was the major content of the closing ceremony. The performance began with a Konghou play named “Jiukuang” from Liu Lili, a Macao student studying in China Arts Research Institute. Other performances included the play “The story of the rehearsal”, hip-hop and Chinese kung fu numbers which were wonderful and won grand applauds from the audience. The group dance “Sorry, sorry” performed by Macao students in universities in Beijing brought the atmosphere to the climax. The performance part of the night’s events successfully closed with a pleasant atmosphere.
These activities were jointly organized by Macao students from all over China and received intensive support from all over the country. They promoted the mutual understanding of the Students from Macao and mainland. The harmonious relations between the two groups of students manifested their friendship. The active participation of the student’s organizations in PKU thoroughly reflected the spirit and patriotism of Peking University students while contributing to flourishing the campus culture and promoting the development of the lessons outside of the classroom in PKU.
