Peking University, Mar. 31, 2013: "Want to eat the traditional egg tart? Want to try Portuguese cuisine without going far? Come at once! We can fulfill your wishes!" said the poster of the Macao Food Gala.

Funded by the Macao Foundation, the annual gala was held by PKU Association for Macao Culture on March 30. The gala was part of the Macao Culture Festival, aiming at promoting the traditions of this multicultural city and facilitating its communication with the Chinese Mainland.
13 types of food were provided for free on the gala, 6 out of which came from the association members. "We usually start to prepare for the gala one semester in advance – for detailed plans and full preparation," introduced Gu Peiling, a sophomore member, "some of the ingredients here were brought directly from Macao by ourselves."

Another hook of the gala was the quiz session. Special snacks, like pork chop buns, were awarded for the correct answers, which could be found on the food signs.

The gala was welcomed among students. "Excellent! It offers us a chance to taste delicious food and learn about Macao at the same time. Hopefully, I will come again next year," said Ha from the Law School.
Wang Yuxi was told about the gala in the Cantonese class–another activity of the Macao Culture Festival. "I have tried every kind of food provided today, and my favorite is the egg tart!" said the freshman from the School of Economics, "I used to know little about Macao food. Through today’s gala, I have learned a lot."
