Peking University, Oct, 21, 2013: The Chinese Paper Culture Exhibition was held at PKU Hall on the morning of October 19, along with the 10th Peking University (PKU) International Cultural Festival‘s kick off.
As is known to all, the paper-making technology and art of printing are both the tremendous inventions of ancient China. The exhibition aimed to show the unique charm of Chinese paper culture via live presentations and vivid pictures.
Movable type, printing block and traditional “Four Treasures of the Study”
The exhibition welcomed its first guest around 8:30 in the morning, when volunteers had just finished placing exhibits. The guest, Pakistan Embassy Counselor, Zamir Ahmed Awan, showed strong interests in Chinese culture. After volunteers showed him the traditional way to make paper and print words, the counselor wrote down the word “sincerity” in Chinese characters (真诚) with Chinese writing brush and ink, which gained much applause from other guests.

There were also a few other important guests visited the exhibition as well. Yue Sulan, Vice Chairman of PKU Council, thought highly of this event. “The exhibition is creative. Excellent traditional Chinese culture should be spread worldwide.” Yue commented.
Besides led a tour of informative image exhibits, visitors were also encouraged to be a part of the presentation. Excerpts of traditional Chinese literature such as Romance of West Chamber and The Analects of Confucius printed by movable type and printing block were handed out to the visitors at the exhibition.
