TRECVID is the annual international top evaluation meeting in the field of video retrieval, organized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (USA) and held annually since 2001. This year TRECVID covered four evaluation tasks: HLFE, search, content-based copy detection, and surveillance event detection. HLFE focuses on how to make computers automatically identify the semantic concepts in the video images like a man, while search studies how to search semantic-relevant videos given search requirements. Both are key technologies in solving the problem of semantic gap and have been a major challenge in the field of multimedia field.
