Prof. Ji Xianlin's Former Residence Ransacked

Peking University, Dec. 21, 2009: Today PKU News reporter interviewed relevant University departments on the incident of Ji Xianlin's residence being ransacked. On the noon of Dec 16, Yan Garden police station received the emergence call from Prof. Ji's relative, reporting that the former residence of Prof. Ji, No. 13 in Langrun Garden was ransacked. After hearing the report, the police immediately went to the scene, acquired basic information, and reported to the criminal investigation team of the Haidian District Police Station, which soon sent extra police to the scene for criminal investigation. According to the statements made by Prof. Ji' relative to the police, stolen items included some books, several bronze busts of Prof. Ji, and a set of academic dress for PhD and so on. The case is now under investigation. The University leadership watches its progress closely, and asks the University Security Dept. to work closely with the Public Security organs to solve the case and reinforce the patrol on campus.


Before the break-in happened, according to Prof. Ji's wishes, on June 19th, 2009, the University, together with Ji Cheng, Prof. Ji's son, registered and listed all the important books and items and handed them as well as the key to the house to Ji Cheng.
