Peking University, May 31, 2012:, The Master Class of International College Students Chorus, as part of the 2012 Beijing International Week of Youth Art, kicked off at Peking University (PKU) Hall on May 26.
Jeffrey Douma, conductor of the Glee Club from Yale University, conducted the class, while the Harmony Philharmonic Chorus of Chinese music teachers and students acted as attendees.
Jeffrey Douma first introduced the history of American chorus to the audience, pointing out the important persons and stuffs with the example of Yale University’s chorus. In his eyes, chorus could enhance the communications among different nations around the world, and therefore promote the global harmony.
Practice went on after the introduction section. The Harmony Philharmonic Chorus sang three songs with Jeffrey Douma’s conducting. Jeffery Douma gave them several tips about chorusing, and shared his chorusing tips with the audience.
In the end, the Harmony Philharmonic Chorus took a group picture with Jeffrey Douma to mark this special occasion.
