Peking University, Nov. 15, 2012: The 90th birthday celebration of Peking University Professor Zhang Youren was held on Nov. 14th by Peking University School of Economics, with the attendance of PKU Vice President Liu Wei, Professor Sun Qixiang, Dean of School Of Economics, Professor Li Yining, honorary dean of Guanghua School Of Management, Professor Justin Yifu Lin, honorary dean of NSD and former director of CCER, PKU Assistant President Huang Guitian, as well as other teachers and students.
Zhu Shanlu, Chairman of PKU Council, sent a letter of congratulation. In that letter, he expressed his appreciation of the industriousness and enthusiasm in knowledge that Professor Zhang had exhibited as a student in Southwest United University, which he called on students and scholars at present to learn from. That point was stressed by Professor Li Yining as well, in his speech concerning his earlier experience of communication with Professor Zhang.
Professor Sun Qixiang also shared her personal stories with Professor Zhang, recalling how Professor Zhang’s kindness towards students had impressed her when she was a student in the School of Economics. She wished him long life.
Other congratulations were sent from Professor Justin Yifu Lin, Professor Li Kegang, Professor Gong Mengqian, Professor Chen Dehua, Professor Ding Guoxiang, etc.
