Peking University, Mar, 24, 2014: On March 20th, the 2014 job fair for PKU graduates was successfully held at Peking University Gymnasium.
Being the largest annual on-campus recruitment activity, this job fair attracted over 200 employing units from 23 provinces nationwide – from national key enterprises and scientific research institutions to grass-roots government offices..
Recruiting units offered over 5000 job posts which cover a large number of industries and fields, including banking and finance, energy and chemical industry, culture and media, educational counseling, biological medicine, information technology, etc.
With the great importance attached to this event, all related offices, including General Office, Office of Student Affairs, and Student Career Center, worked jointly to make sure the job fair going well. Vice chairman of PKU Council Ye Jingyi was present at the fair, communicating with both employers and students.
Graduates communicated and negotiated with the employers, concerning not only about positions and salaries, but also the capacity matching and their future development.
There will be around 8500 PKU graduates in 2014, consisting of 2700 graduates, 4200 postgraduates and 1600 doctoral students. This year, the ratio of PKU graduates choosing grass-roots employments and careers in western China keeps rising. Meanwhile, the number of graduates signing on employers outside Beijing gains a marked increase compared with last year.
PKU has taken effective measures to guide the graduates find their ideal jobs. Since last October, more than 50 group recruitments have been held with over 50,000 job requirements being provided. At the job fair, the information desk was set up for employment policy consolation, CV correction as well as career counseling service was provided, and visitors could get the newly-printed job guidance brochure with more detailed information.
In recent years, PKU has made concentrated efforts to broaden the visions of her students. With projects of local selected graduates and directional talent introduction, the university puts forward the “home & country strategy”, encouraging graduate students to make contributions in their hometowns, or places where they are needed most, and unite their patriotism with future careers.
