Peking University, May 15, 2015: On the afternoon of May 6, the opening ceremony of "5-Year Educational System: 2015 Urban and Regional Planning Majors’ Graduation Exhibition" was held at Sunshine Hall of Lee Shau Kee Building.
Unlike many other faculties of PKU, the Department of Urban and Regional Planning, affiliated to College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, provides a 5-year educational system for its undergraduates. The "5-year educational system" is also employed as the graduation exhibition theme every year, characterizing its distinctive teaching plan, and representing the accomplishment of the graduates through five years' cultivation. The exhibition is comprised of 5 parts: "Perception of Beijing" ,"Cities in Historical Change" ,"Rapid Urbanization" ,"Modernity and City's Culture" and "Us".
Inspection group from Higher Education Evaluation Committee of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China (MOHURD), PKU Vice Provost Fang Xingui, Vice Director of the Office of Educational Administration Liu Jianbo, Secretary of College of Urban and Environmental Sciences Liu Gengnian and some teachers and students from College of Urban and Environmental Sciences attended the opening ceremony. Professor Lv Bin, Dean of the Department of Urban and Regional Planning presided over the opening ceremony.
Professor Fang Xingui expressed his congratulation to the graduates and gratitude to the specialists present. He hoped that the Department Urban and Regional Planning would take a further step under the guidance of the inspection group. He also wished that the graduates would "keep measuring their motherland with their feet and planning its future with their hands, and win honor for PKU."
Professor Chen Feng, leader of the inspection group, praised the excellence of the graduates' work at the exhibition and gave his best wishes to the students. He said that Peking University, as one of the top universities in China, was heading for the goal of being a world-class university. The Department of Urban and Regional Planning should export more talents to promote the economic and social development of China.
After the valediction of the graduate representitive. Fang Xingui, Chen Feng and Liu Gengnian cut the ribbon together and announced the opening of the exhibition. Participants visited the exhibition led by and communicated with Urban and Regional Planning majors.
After the visit, school administrators, specialists and graduates took a group photograph.
