The PKU Initiative Competition “Speaking freely about Weiming” is an activity based on proposals and research, encouraging students to put forward valuable ideas and make Yanyuan better. In the past years, the student union has been collecting suggestions from students and provided feedback for school. But the problem was that the proposals were vague and general. This year, the student union wants students to do enough research and provide practical solutions by adopting the form of a competition. The competition requires the participants to select topics, do research and offer solutions all by themselves for problems worth concerning.
More than forty teams participate in this competition with topics ranging from sports venues and facilities to medical conditions. Seven teams went into the final after preliminary assessment and reevaluation. On the final scene, the seven teams made their presentations, and the judges scored them concerning the meaning of the proposal, and the research process. The first prize team focused on the matter of installing microwave in student dorms.
