Peking University, Sep. 6, 2015: PKU freshmen from all over the country checked in this Saturday. 4006 undergraduates, 3442 postgraduates and 1757 doctoral candidates are admitted this year. Their lives is about to start something new on this campus.
Different departments adopted various creative forms of activities to welcome the freshmen at the registration site.
School of journalism and communication invited every freshman to take a photo within the TV-like photo frame, so that they could both remember the special moment as well as feel the atmosphere of the department.
School of economics prepared a photo wall for the new comers on which they can put their photos and sign, and they also prepared name tags for the instructors and freshmen can find out who will guide them through the orientation week. Meanwhile, law school set up three different pathways for three different types of students so that they will be able to go through their registration easily.
Service zone was set up at the registration site to provide necessary help and guidance to freshmen. Registration info was also shown on the electronic display and students can get a whole picture of the registration. Besides, each freshman receives a manual that guide them through the very first weeks in PKU.
Departments also provided WeChat online service for students who may have any questions. By scanning QR Codes, they can get in touch with the department directly.
School officials were welcoming the freshmen at the registration area, communicating with the students and their parents, learning about their needs and difficulties, gathering their feedbacks on registration
Bank of China, China Development Bank, PKU Financial Department and Student Financial Assistant Center are also at the registration to provide students in need with student loans.
There are 1508 overseas students admitted into PKU this fall. Among them, 72 are from our newly launched Yenching Academy program, and they came from Harvard, Yale, oxford, and other outstanding universities across the world.
