16th Peking University Youth National Policy Forum held

Peking University, May 10, 2017:  The 16th Peking University Youth National Policy Forum was held at Moonlight Hall, Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center on May 16. It is themed with “One Belt and One Road: Chinese Dream and the Global New Pattern in the 21st century”. Chairman of PKU Youth League Committee Chen Yongli, Vice Chairman Wang Yiming and around 300 teachers and students from different colleges attended the forum. Honorary Dean of the National School of Development of Peking University, Professor Justin Yifu Lin was specially invited to share his opinions on national policies and life insights.
 

The conference
 
The forum was composed of three parts: keynote speeches, youth opinion on politics, and answered questions from the audience. Professor Lin delivered a keynote speech entitled “One Belt and One Road: Chinese Dream and the Global New Pattern in the 21st century”, which carried out forward-thinking and judgment on China’s economic development in the future with regard to China’s achievements and relations with the global economy. He expressed his hopes for PKU students to always bear in mind that serving people worldwide is their duty, and encouraged them to be the future leader by upholding the discipline, “act in the beginning of knowledge , knowledge is the product of act”. His interpretation of China’s economy and expectation on students got a fine round of applause.

During the dialogue session, Lin discussed issues related to China’s reform policy, “One Belt and One Road” policy, and E-commerce vs. real economy with student representatives. He also answered relevant questions with thorough thinking and praised students for their profound thoughts.
 
In answering an audience’s question, “how could poor area achieve development even with unfavorable conditions”, Lin, in combination of personal experience, said that it was the idea that decided the future. He also answered the question from other perspectives including the infrastructure construction and industrial development in different areas.
 
In a warm atmosphere, the 16th Peking University Youth National Policy Forum ended.
