Peking University, April 24, 2018: On March 31, Peking University Qomolangma Mountaineering Team arrived at Tibet and started the activity of climbing Qomolangma. Huang Nubo, alumnus of PKU Chinese Language and Literature and chief commander of climbing Qomolangma, came to the base camp and gave the team members trainings.
Recently, the mountaineering team finished climbing trainings and other preparing works as scheduled. After gradually being adapted to the environment at an altitude of 5200 meters, they carried out trainings in campsites at an altitude of 5800 meters and of 6500 meters. At present, after a short break in the base camp, the mountaineering team has already made a journey leading to a higher altitude.

Mountaineering team’s spirit of never being afraid of challenges and never stopping is a vivid embodiment of PKU spirit. The team members work tenaciously and try their best to realize the motto of PKU youth – “A man is taller than a mountain, his feet longer than the road”. Every climbing of them draws attention of students and teachers on campus.
The mountaineering team has made the final preparation for the next climbing. They will hold on to the principle of safety first. The banner of PKU spirit, as the team climbs up, will wave on the top of Qomolangma.
