Snam China supports Peking University in policy research on natural gas

Peking University, October 21, 2020: On October 14, Snam China, Peking University Institute of Energy (IE), and Peking University Education Foundation signed a donation agreement in support of IE’s policy research on natural gas. Counsellor Emanuele de Maigret, head of the Economic and Commercial Office of Embassy of Italy to the PRC, Matteo Tanteri, Snam China chairman and CEO, and others attended the ceremony.


Maigret spoke highly of the all-around cooperation between China and Italy. He noted that Snam’s business in China is a model of economic cooperation between the two countries. He hopes that the collaboration between Peking University and Snam will promote cooperation and exchanges between two sides in broader fields.

Tanteri said China is a global leader in developing natural gas. He believes China’s natural gas industries will see a bright future following the establishment of China Oil & Gas Piping Network Corporation (PipeChina). Tanteri recognized the significance of IE’s research projects on natural gas and expressed Snam’s willingness to support these projects. Meanwhile, he hopes that China’s natural gas industry can make sound, rapid progress in the course of reform by drawing on international experience.

Professor Li Peijun from the School of Earth and Space Sciences, thanked Snam for its generous endowment on behalf of Peking University. He acknowledged the significance of cooperation between Snam and IE given the ongoing global energy transformation and the changing international environment. Snam’s expertise and experience in natural gas, and particularly in its infrastructure, are of immense value to IE. The collaboration between IE and Snam is bound to make substantial contribution to China’s natural gas industries.
