Keynote Speaker in 2009 Beijing Forum: Nobel Laureate in Economics Kenneth J. Arrow

Beijing Forum Secretariat, Beijing, Oct. 23, 2009: The Sixth Annual Beijing Forum — 2009 Beijing Forum will hold its opening ceremony on November 6th at Diaoyutai State Guesthouse.

 

Beijing Forum is an international academic conference with the longest duration, biggest scale and widest influence ever sponsored by  Peking University.It endeavors to promote academic development and social progress across the world and also enhance the academia influence of Peking University's academic.

 
The keynote speeches of Beijing Forum have fully demonstrated its academic proficiency and convey core academic viewpoints. Keynote speakers who have been invited by the organizing committee are all internationally top scholars. The four keynote speakers of the forthcoming 2009 Beijing Forum are: Kenneth J. Arrow, Nobel Laureate in Economics, Professor Emeritus of Stanford University, Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; Seyyed H. Nasr, Professor of Islamic Studies of George Washington University, President of the Foundation for Traditional Studies; Peter J. Katzenstein, Professor of Cornell University, President of the American Political Science Association, Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences; and Professor Zhou Qiren, Dean of National School of Development and Director of China Center for Economic Research, Peking University. They all come from different cultural background and will explore this year’s theme “The Harmony Civilizations and Prosperity for All — Looking beyond the Crisis to a Harmonious Future” from economic, philosophical and international relations’ perspectives.

North, Amart Ya Sen, Robert Mundell, all Nobel Laureate in Economics; Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, former President of Chile; Charlene Barshefsky, United States former State Representative; Robert Anthony Scalapino, Professor of the University of California,  Berkeley; Tu Weiming, Professor of Harvard University; Gianteresio Vattimo, Italian Philosopher; Hunter R. Rawlings III, former President of Cornell University; Chen Qizong, Vice Chairman of the Asian Society, President of the Hongkong Henglong Group; Mohan Munasinghe, co-Laureate of the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize, Vice Chairman of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC); Hiroshi Komiyama, President of Tokyo University; Harry Thomas Dickinson, Vice President of the Royal Historical Society and Historical Association of Great Britain, Emeritus Professor of the University of Edinburgh; Qian Qichen, former Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC; Li Zhaoxing, former Foreign Minister of the PRC; He Fangchuan, former Vice President of Peking University, former Director of the Asia-Pacific Research Institute of Peking University; Yuan Xingpei, Professor at Peking University, former Director of the Chinese Central Research Institute of Culture and History; Yang Yijie and Ye Lang, both Professor at Peking University; and Professor Wang Jisi, Dean of the School of International Studies at Peking University.
