Peking University establishes Translational Medicine Institute in Nanjing

Peking University, May 27, 2019: The Nanjing Translational Medicine Institute (NTMI), an affiliate of the Institute of Molecular Medicine at Peking University, was founded in Nanjing following its unveiling ceremony on May 24. Peking University President Hao Ping was present, together with provincial and municipal officials.
At the unveiling ceremony
Prior to the ceremony, Hao Ping paid a visit to the exhibition hall of Jiangbei New Area and NTMI. He said that the New Area boasts a solid industrial foundation, extensive international cooperation and a superior business environment, with the emphasis on developing healthcare, integrated circuits and modern financial industry. He hoped that Peking University can further the cooperation with the New Area, accelerate the implementation of key projects and drive the high-quality regional development.
Luo Qun, who spoke on behalf of the Jiangbei New Area, pointed out that Peking University is the pioneer of culture, the powerhouse of thoughts and the cradle of innovation. The establishment of the NTMI is expected to strengthen deeper bilateral communication and collaboration, thus achieving a win-win scenario. He added that Nanjing will leverage Peking University’s talent pool and the edges in scientific research for the prosperity of Jiangbei New Area.
Featuring on new drugs for major diseases and high-end biomedical imaging equipment, Nanjing Translational Medicine Institute will strive to develop an incubator conducive to the synergy of the translational medicine research and practice, making it a paragon of new institutions integrating industry, education and research in the years to come.
