Peking University, June 11, 2011: The kick-off meeting of the cooperating project on medical development between Peking University Health Science Center (PUHSC) and Bayer Healthcare Company Ltd. was held on the morning of June 9.
Professor Ke Yang, executive vice president of Peking University (PKU) and executive vice president of PUHSC, addressed a speech in the meeting. She mentioned that Bayer Healthcare could offer PUHSC supports to enforce the reformation on combining practice with theory, explore effective ways of co-coordinating education, form a stable joint training system which would form a win-win situation for both the company and students, and establish boarder platform for theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
Li Xilie, president of Bayer Healthcare in China, looked forward to a deeper cooperation between Bayer and PKU in medical innovation, and find ways to promote the cooperation between business and universities. He said that Bayer and PKU were shouldering the mission to promote the medical research and development, which would have long and profound effect on enhancing the quality of pharmaceuticals and improving the Chinese people’s standards of health security.
Professor Hu Yonghua, executive deputy dean of PKU School of Public Health, introduced the background and details of this cooperating project. He said that School of Public Health had cooperation with Bayer in lectures, data analysis, and clinical research in recent years. In 2010, the specialists from Bayer lectured at School of Public Health, receiving good comments from students. Nowadays, both sides get a conclusion that researches and cooperation in the field of medical development and clinical practical management have significant importance in enhancing the quality of pharmaceuticals and improving the standard of health security. Besides the research field, Bayer Healthcare also cooperates with PKU in talents training through providing financial support, establishing scholarship, and offering internship for students.
Professor Ke Yang and President Li Yilie signed on the memo. Following the signing ceremony were academic reports addressed by specialists from Bayer and PKU to introduce specific contacts of this project.
