Peking University, Oct. 7, 2019: The 1st PKU-UTokyo-NII Joint Forum on Information Science was held by School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, Peking University (PKU) on September 24 and 25 at Overseas Exchange Center. Parallel sessions on 24 included academic reports and laboratory visits. Deans of the three schools hosted the main forum on 25, introduced their schools and discussed ways of cooperation.
Academic reports were composed of four parts, and 29 professors from three schools introduced their laboratories in terms of the four arenas including Software Engineering and Programming Language, Network and Communication, Electronics and Microelectronics and Visual Computing and Machine Intelligence. In laboratory visits, professors visited National Engineering Laboratory for Video Technology, National Engineering Research Center for Software Engineering and Centers on Frontiers of Computing Studies, Peking University.
The main forum, hosted by Professor Hu Zhenjiang on the morning of September 25, focused on deepening cooperation and exchanges in the field of information technology. At noon, PKU President Hao Ping and PKU Vice President Gong Qihuang had in-depth exchanges with Japanese professors regarding trilateral strategic international cooperation and officials from the three schools decided that 2nd PKU-UTokyo-NII Joint Forum on Information Science would be held at Tokyo University in 2020.
The forum was supported by Office of International Relations’ grants for PKU Strategic Cooperation Partnerships.
