Delegates of China-CEEC Education Capacity Building Project visit PKU

Peking University, Oct 28, 2019: On the afternoon of October 28, 2019, delegates of China-CEEC (Central and Eastern European Countries) Education Capacity Building Project visited Peking University. Delegates came from 16 central and eastern European countries, including senior officials from education administrations, heads of research institutes and university presidents. PKU Council Chairman Qiu Shuiping, Vice President Wang Bo, Director Xia Hongwei of Office of International Relations, Professor Kong Fanjun from School of International Studies and Professor Shen Wenqin from Graduate School of Education attended the meeting in Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center.
Qiu Shuiping extended warm welcome to the guests, and introduced the profound history of PKU and its rapid development in recent decades. He said that PKU attaches great importance to country-specific studies in CEE (Central and Eastern Europe) and has been actively promoting cooperation with CEE universities. He hoped to make joint efforts with the education sector of CEEC to deepen cooperation in science and culture.
Ms Grażyna Żebrowska, the director of the Department of International Cooperation from the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education, spoke on behalf of the delegation. She appreciated PKU for the warm reception and spoke highly of the rapid development of China. As CEEC have kept friendly contact with China, she hoped to exchange experience and promote in-depth cooperation between universities of the two sides in the future through this visit.
Participants of the meeting
After the meeting, Professor Kong Fangjun gave a speech respectively on PKU’s effort in CEE education and research. Professor Shen Wenqin made a report titled “The Rising of China’s Higher Education in the Last 40 years: Lessons Learned.” Delegates showed great interest in the reports and carried out an in-depth discussion with the two professors.
