Xiaoliang Sunney Xie attends the 2nd World Laureates Forum

Peking University, Nov. 5, 2019: From October 29th to November 1st, the 2nd World Laureates Forum (2019) was held in Shanghai under the theme of “Science and Technology, for the Common Destiny of Mankind”. The forum brings together 65 top scientists from around the world, over 10 members of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and more than 600 Chinese and foreign young scientists, well-known entrepreneurs and representatives from various institutions. The agenda includes the Young Scientists Forum, the Future International Science Forum, the eight individual summits, and the Mobius Forum. Professor Xiaoliang Sunney Xie, director of the Biomedical Pioneering Innovation Center (BIOPIC) of Peking University and director of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Genomics, was invited to participate in the forum as a recipient of the 2015 Albany Medical Center Prize.
Mobius Forum
Xie hosted the Young Scientists Forum on the afternoon of the 29th. At one of the eight individual summits on the following day, Xie gave a report titled “Avoiding Genetic Diseases and Decoding Human Genome”.
As an important part of the forum, the Mobius Forum held on the 31st was intended to inspire human's ultimate imagination of the peak of technology and future development. Xie pointed out that the new challenge is to crack the human functional genomic code, understand basic life processes, and promote the development of new drugs for different diseases.
After the meeting, Xiaoliang Sunney Xie accepted an interview with CCTV News and discussed topics such as the prediction of Nobel Prize winners, the reasons for returning to China and the pursuit of scientific research.
