Strategic cooperation agreement signed between PKU and France

Peking University, Nov. 9, 2019: On Nov. 6, 2019, Peking University, Thalès France and École Polytechnique signed a strategic cooperation agreement for Laser-Driven Multi-Beam Facilities Project (LDMBF) of PKU in Beijing at the Great Hall of the People.
President Xi Jinping and President Emmanuel Macron of France co-witness the signature of the agreement.
Peking University takes the head to construct LDMBF. Fudan University, Institute of High Energy Physics Chinese Academy of Science and many other institutes also participate in the planning and construction of LDMBF. This project is fulfilling China’s National Major Science and Technology Infrastructure Project. Together with High Energy Photon Source, Synergetic Extreme Condition User Facility and other major science facilities at Beijing Huairou Science City, LDMBF will jointly promote the formation of Beijing’s scientific and technological innovation center with global influence and national comprehensive science center. The signature of LDMBF aims to promote global joint facility collaborations and development, setting a solid foundation for future cooperation in scientific research between France and China.
Gérard Mourou, professor at École Polytechnique, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2018 and promoted the planning and construction of Extreme Light Infrastructure in Europe, highly affirmed the scientific objectives and construction plan of LDMBF.
