Institute of Population Research holds the Accessibility Fund Project Symposium

Peking University, Oct. 27, 2019: The Accessibility Fund Project Symposium was held by Peking University’s Institute of Population Research. More than 20 people from Peking University Accessibility Fund Project and China Disabled Persons’ Federation Accessible Environment Construction Promotion Office attended the meeting, including Lv Shiming, vice chair of China Disabled Persons' Federation, and Ye Jingyi, executive vice chair of Peking University Council. The meeting was hosted by Professor Chen Gong, the executive vice president of the Institute of Population Research of Peking University.
The Meeting in Progress
Chen Gong started out by introducing the establishment, development, and use of funds of the Accessibility Fund Project of the Institute of Population Research. Sun Jiling, a postdoctoral of the Institute of Population Research, introduced the implementation of the project. According to the introduction, the project is implemented by carrying out accessible construction for the disabled and building communities for the elderly. Scholars have carried out in-depth academic research on accessible theory. Relevant personnel training has also been conducted to strengthen the transformation towards an accessible campus.
The introduction of the project team was fully recognized by the leaders and experts attending the meeting. Sun Yiping, vice president of the Institute for Accessible Development of Tsinghua University, spoke highly of the significance and practice of the project. Professor Yang Lixiong of Renmin University of China and Professor Song Xinming Peking University Institute of Population Research also expressed their opinions and support for the project.
Lv Shiming introduced a large number of detailed information on the construction of an accessible environment, hoping that Peking University would have a new breakthrough in social integration and legislative research. Ye Jingyi pointed out that the next step is to build a large platform for accessibility research projects based on the legislation project of accessible environment construction and to promote the integration of the elderly and the disabled through the theoretical research of social integration.
