Peking University and Huawei discuss research collaboration

Peking University, Dec. 26, 2019: On December 10, Peking University and Huawei, China’s leading telecommunications company, discussed future collaboration on scientific research. The meeting was joined by experts from Huawei's Institute of Strategic Research and faculties from Peking University across a wide range of institutions and schools. Both sides also discussed sci-tech achievements in medicine and advanced interdisciplinary fields.
In the morning, the discussion focused on medical sci-tech issues such as mental disorders, AI and big data application in healthcare, telemedicine, medical ethics and medical education. Meanwhile, faculties from Peking University Health Science Center (PKUHSC), School of Public Health (SPH), National Institution of Health Data Science (NIHDS) introduced their institutions’ technological practice and achievements. Besides, experts from Huawei visited sports medicine ward of Peking University Third Hospital (PUTH).

In the afternoon, experts from Huawei and scholars from PKU discussed advanced sci-tech achievements in life science, information science and other advanced interdisciplinary fields. Zhu Guangping, director of Huawei's Technical Strategy Department, emphasized that Huawei is moving into the era of "Innovation 2.0", which is all about vision-driven theoretical breakthroughs and inventions.

Following the first bilateral discussion on October 24, this was the second time that Huawei had visited PKU to discuss key areas of future collaboration.
