Peking University alumni across the globe launch “Million Face Masks Campaign”

Peking University, March 18, 2020: In face of the COVID-19, PKU alumni across the globe have gathered their strength by launching a “Million Face Masks Campaign” on February 8. The campaign set up a coordinating committee which consists of multiple teams that are responsible for appraising medical supplies, making a list of donors, and managing the whole donation process. Team members include alumni volunteers with relevant expertise, so that surgical masks from all over the world can be delivered to hospitals in Wuhan as soon as possible.
With support from alumni throughout the world, the total number of masks that have been sent to Hubei reached 1.4 million as of February 28, making PKU the top donor among all university alumni associations. More than 30,000 alumni from different parts of world have participated in the campaign and donated 10 million RMB approximately, according to Liu Meng, president of PKU Alumni Association in Hubei.
