Peking University, April 29, 2020: Professor Wang Rong, director of China Institute for Educational Finance Research of Peking University, was elected director of IIEP Council of UNESCO, with the tenure of four years.

Founded in 1963, the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) is one of the six permanent organizations of UNESCO. As the only specialized organization that supports education policy, planning and management tasks, it mainly carries out training in education planning and administration, and conducts cooperative research on education planning, evaluation methods of education reform, education and employment.
Wang Rong received a Bachelor of Science from the College of Urban and Environmental Sciences and a Master of Public Administration from the Institute of Higher Education of Peking University. Later, she went to the United States and obtained a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley. After returning to China, she served as the dean of the Department of Education Economics and Management of the PKU School of Education before she was appointed as the director of China Institute for Educational Finance Research in 2005.
