Peking University establishes a new discipline of Emergency Management

Peking University, May 26, 2020: On May 21, Peking University decided to establish a secondary discipline, i.e. Emergency Management, under the primary Public Management discipline. The establishment of the new discipline is an attempt to respond to China’s demand in the new era.
Divided into five research fields, the discipline of Emergency Management includes emergency management theory and methodology, emergency management system and competence, risk control and emergency management, intelligent emergency management, and comparative emergency management. The new discipline will start to enroll master and doctoral students from 2020.
Besides, Peking University plans to establish another new discipline in relation with emergency management under the discipline of Public Health and Preventive Medicine in the School of Public Health.
