The event aims to bring capable students to international organizations, meet the demand of universities, create opportunities for Chinese youngsters to engage with international organizations and strengthen Chinese youngsters’ competence of working for international organizations.

The Job Fair this year invited 21 UN agencies, including UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Peking University and other universities organized the events respectively, and videos of the events are available to university students.

In his recorded speech, Peking University President Hao Ping warmly welcomed all the UN agencies and wished the 2nd UN Job Fair a great success. Hao looks forward to furthering cooperation between international organizations and Chinese universities and hopes that it will encourage more Chinese young students to contribute to global sustainable development.

The UNESCO and UNHCR Job Fairs were held on October 13 and October 15 respectively. Rossella Salvia, coordinator of Human Resources Partnerships of UNESCO’s Bureau of Human Resources Management, Juste Jean-Paul Ngome Abiaga, assistant programme specialist from International Basic Sciences Programme of UNESCO, and John F. Thomas, chief of Affiliate Partnerships and Recruitment at UNHCR, offered thorough introductions of various UN agencies, including basic structures, aims, career development, and so on. More than 300 students attended the online presentations and interacted with the UN representatives.

UNESCO and UNHCR play a key role in many fields, including education, political affairs, natural resources, and so on. They are committed to promoting peace, communication, and development throughout the world, as well as offering opportunities and platforms for youngsters to engage in international affairs.

The 2nd UN Job Fair also provided career training. Six senior HR representatives from different UN agencies were invited to offer two online training sessions on writing skills and interview skills. These training sessions are expected to provide more useful information and equip Chinese youngsters with skills that are necessary to become outstanding members of international organizations.
