Peking University, December 23, 2020: Hosted by Peking University and co-organized by PKU Center on Frontiers of Computing Studies (CFCS), the 16th Conference on Web and Internet Economics (WINE 2020) was held online from December 7 to 11. Among the attendees were Paul Spirakis, professor of the University of Liverpool, University of Patras and chairman of European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS), Constantinos Daskalakis, professor of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Chen Yiling, professor of Harvard University. Meanwhile, more than 300 guests from home and abroad participated in the WINE 2020, which reached a record high. Deng Xiaotie, chair professor from CFCS chaired the WINE 2020.

The WINE 2020 focused on the latest development and cutting-edge issues of internet economics and related disciplines, which included mechanism design, game theory, auctions, pricing, social choice theory, and other important themes. It consisted of six sub-forums, along with Invited Talk: Women in Economics and Computer Science, and Workshop on Blockchain. The WINE 2020 also provided an eight-hour live broadcast via three platforms (YouTube, Bilibili, and KouShare) per day, garnering over 10,000 views.

Distinguished guests deliver addresses at the opening ceremony

Over the past decade, research in theoretical computer science, artificial intelligence, operations research, and economics has joined forces to tackle problems involving incentives and computation. These problems are of particular importance in application areas like the Web and the Internet that involve large and diverse populations. The WINE is an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of ideas and results on incentives and computation arising from these various fields.
