As an old friend of Peking University (PKU), Prof. Mundell has visited PKU many times since he first came here to attend the inaugural ceremony of China Center for Economic Research (now National School of Development)in 1995. He said PKU had a good reputation all over China and even around the world. He spoke highly of PKU for its efforts to improve the quality of education. He pointed out that the rapid development of education requires the educators’ resolution and appropriate opportunities, and hoped PKU could grasp the good opportunities to further improve education quality.
Prof. Zhu Shanlu gave a warm welcome to Prof. Mundell’s visit to PKU. He praised Professor Mundell’s academic achievements and appreciated his suggestions to PKU. Prof. Zhu said China’s higher education is faced with precious opportunities of development, and PKU would seize the opportunity to make more efforts at talent introduction, pay more attention to the development of interdisciplinary and frontier subjects, and accelerate the knowledge innovation so that PKU would become a world-class university as soon as possible.
