Recent decades witnessed a huge progress in informatization. The constant changes of Internet and other information technologies have brought great convenience to thousands of households all over the world. Informatization is making an increasing contribution to the development of global economy. However, it has unavoidably brought in various information security problems.
Peking University, November 25, 2011: “China-Japan-Korea International Symposium for Urban Informatization, Peking University” was held in Peking University Hall, November 19th.
The symposium had drawn great attention worldwide. About 500 people including heads of corresponding departments from different cities, provinces and autonomous regions in China, entrepreneurs, experts and scholars from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering and some of the high institutions of China and foreign friends gathered together to discuss how to improve the overall function of a city by using information technology and how to solve the difficulties and obstacles in urban informatization of different countries and regions.
Li Yansong, vice president of Peking University gave the opening speech. On behalf of Peking University, he congratulated the opening of the symposium. He hoped that China, Japan and Korea could join hands and make new contributions to the new development of urban informatization on the platform Peking University built.
Then, Yang Xueshan, assistant minister of Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Guan Peng, professor of Matsuyama University, Japan, Li Xiangxi, minister of Ministry of Technology in Korea, and Ni Guangnan, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering gave keynote speeches respectively.
Yang Xueshan explained in detail about newly-developed industries such as the information technology, IT industry and IT network in his speech. He believed China would make much more progress in urbaninformatization. Professor Guan Peng introduced the development of Japanese urban informatization and he listed their achievements in transportation, communications and other areas in informatization. Mr. Li Xiangxi reviewed the development courses of human beings, which indicated that informatization was a tendency irreversible. He stressed that Korea was dedicated to promote informatization through integration of technology, education and other relevant industries. Academician Ni Nanguang talked about the ways to realize China's informatization in a real sense from a professional perspective.
On the forum held on the afternoon of 19th, the participants made an in-depth discussion about policy and development strategy of informatization, the latest trends of IT development, the challenge of the Internet, international cooperation in technology and products, urban informatization and service-oriented government and smart urban planning and industrial cooperation, etc. At the same time, representatives of Peking University and those of college union from Japan, Korea and America signed a framework agreement promoting the urban informatization between cities worldwide.
After the symposium, major representatives of participants form China, Japan and Korea will go to Wuxi, a city in Jiangsu province, to conduct a research themed "smart interconnection, charming Wuxi". They will continue their discussion in hot issues such as the advancement of the overall competitiveness of a city and carry on the exchange and promotion of technology. The aim is to make "China-Japan-Korea International Symposium for Urban Informatization, Peking University" an essential academic activity in promoting urban informatization and to build the information exchange platform for the three countries.
With the approval of the Ministry of Education, the symposium was organized by Peking University, undertaken by the Department of Information Management,Peking University and the Institute of Information Strategy and assisted by the government of Wuxi city, Jiangsu province.
