Peking University, Dec, 4, 2011: On the afternoon of November 28th, the British International Development Minister Andrew Mitchell came to visit Peking University (PKU). He was welcomed by PKU President Zhou Qifeng.

Minister Andrew Mitchell gave a speech entitled “China and U.K. : A Vision of International Development Cooperation” at Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center. Professor Zhu Feng, from the School of International Studies at PKU, hosted the speech.
In his speech, Minister Andrew Mitchell reviewed the achievements that U.K. had made in international development during recent years. He also talked about China’s contributions to the world’s development in the past 50 years, speaking highly of China’s efforts on promoting world peace, improving global climate change and so on. Minister Andrew Mitchell also looked back on the cooperation between China and U.K. , regarding China as U.K.’s important cooperative partner not only in the present, but also in the future. He hoped that the two countries would continue to make improvement in the world’s peace and development. After his sppech, Minister Andrew Mitchell exchanged ideas with the students and teachers on international issues such as international aid, Libya problem and so on.
