Peking University, Mar, 9, 2012: A delegation of Tanzanian Zanzibar Free Economic Zone officials visited Peking University (PKU) on March 3, expressing their willingness to strengthen cooperation and communications.
At Linhuxuan, PKU Vice President Li Yansong welcomed the officials. He briefly introduced PKU’s recent developments, including discipline-specific arrangements and international communications. On the subject of exchanges between PKU and African universities, President Li Yansong said communication has become more and more frequent, especially after the establishment of the PKU Center for African Studies. By taking advantage of this Tanzanian delegation’s visit, PKU hopes to seek for more cooperation with Tanzania.
Hamad Masoud Hamad, leader of the delegation and minister for infrastructure and communication in Zanzibar, recalled the friendship between Tanzania and China in the past and praised PKU’s high research position in the world. The Vice President of the State University of Zanzibar then expressed his desire to deepen cooperation between the two universities.
Finally, the delegation talked with teachers and students from PKU Center for African Studies, and visited the campus in their company.
