Delegation from University of Wuppertal Visited Peking University

Peking University, Mar. 14, 2012: Professor K?ch from University of Wuppertal, Germany, visited Peking University (PKU) on the morning of Mar. 5, 2012. Professor K?ch along with his delegation were welcomed by Vice President Li Yansong and professors from School of Environmental Science and Engineering, PKU.

 

Professor Li Yansong first reviewed PKU’s history of cooperation with German universities and stressed the important status of Germany in the field of higher education in Europe. Professor K?ch, after a brief introduction of the recent development of the University of Wuppertal, said that the national influence of PKU in the educational field was to the University of Wuppertal’s admiration, and he expected further reinforcement of cooperation in the student exchange program. After that, he gave a more detailed introduction concerning the history, location, faculty, department setting, etc. of the University of Wuppertal. He stressed on the university’s efforts on new energies and development of environmental science.

 

Zhang Yuanhang, professor from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering, PKU (PKUSESE), introduced some basic information of the school, and pointed out the necessity of a broader international cooperation in the field of environmental science. In response to that, professor K?ch said that he hoped that more scientific research cooperation with Peking University can be carried out concerning the “harmonious development of human being and nature.” Professor Zhu Tong, who received his doctoral degree from the University of Wuppertal, presented the blue-print of further cooperation between the two universities in environmental science, public health, and other fields.
