Peking University, May 25, 2012: Recently, Rao Yi, Dean of School of Life Science at Peking University (PKU) and chair professor, was invited by Rockefeller University (New York) and Baylor College of Medicine (Houston), to give academic lectures on the scientific research conducted by him and his colleagues in China.
The topics are “Molecular Sociophysiology of Sexual Preference” and “Genetic Analysis of Sexual Preference”. Professor Rao was the first biologist invited by Rockefeller University to present scientific research in China to the whole university.
Both Rockefeller University and Baylor College of Medicine are first-rate bio-medical research and education institutes in America. Rockefeller University is the world’s top notch bio-medical research center, especially. The historical fact that the DNA is the genetic material was found there. It gathered 24 Nobel Laureates (including American first Nobel Prize in medicine) and 21 Lasker Awards winners in the history. There are now 6 Nobel Laureates, 7 Lasker Awards winners and 35 National Academic members among 73 laboratory directors.
The Friday Lecture Series is a university-level academic activity at Rockefeller University, and invites the world’s class scientists to give lectures.
The president and vice-president of Rockefeller University invited Professor Rao to deliver a speech on his research on May 11, 2012. This invitation from the top notch scientific community signified the transformation from the increase in quantity to the development in quality of Chinese life science research in the past three decades.
