Peking University, May 17, 2012: Mr. Chen Qinghao, a well-known sinologist and researcher of French National Social Science Research Center, donated his personal collections to Library of Sinology, Peking University (PKU) on May 17.
Present at the meeting were Professor Yuan Xingpei, Director of Sinology Traning Center, Professor Lothar von Falkenhausen, a famoussinologist and American archaeologist, as well as professors and students of Literary and History Major of PKU.

Chen hoped that his donation would provide PKU’s sinology research with important literature support. Chen planed to name his donation Chun Hui, in commemoration of his mother, and expressed his wish that the library, on the one hand, would accept donations from other scholars and , on the other hand, PKU students and staff members could get free access to all the documents available.
Expressing his gratitude for Mr. Chen’s generosity on behalf of PKU Sinologist Training Center, Yuan promised a full acceptance of Chen’s suggestions above. A feature of the donation was its inclusion of Chinese classic novels, and research materials of East Asia literature, so Yuan called for the active utilization of Chen’s collection in order to make valuable academic achievements
PKU Sinologist Training Center was jointly established by Hanban (Confucius Institute Headquarters) and Peking University, aiming at promoting Chinese culture to the world by inviting internationally famous sinologist to give lectures here. Mr. Chen Qinghao was granted Ph.D degree of East Studies by University of Paris Diderot (Université Paris Diderot) and continued his research in French National Social Science Research Center until his retirement.
