Peking University, JUN, 24, 2012: On June 18, 2012, a delegation led by Dr. Imad Moustapha, Ambassador of the Syrian Arab Republic to China, visited Peking University (PKU). Li Yansong, vice president of PKU welcomed the delegation at Linhuxuan, PKU.
Syria and China established the formal diplomatic relations in 1956, since then two countries have developed continuous cooperation in various fields. “PKU is one of the best universities in China and every year there are many overseas students coming to PKU to pursue their studies. I hope that PKU will have more cultural exchange with Syrian universities and Syrian students are welcomed as well”, Li said.
Moustapha pointed out that the cultural relations between two countries had a long history which could be traced back to Silk Road and the Implementation Plan of Culture Cooperation Agreement has been renewed for many time. He hoped more Chinese delegations would visit Syria and Syria sent overseas exchange students to PKU to deepen mutual understanding and benefit both countries.
