Peking University, Oct 28, 2010: The launch ceremony of Aviation Club of PKU was successfully held at The Lake View Hotel on Oct. 25. The Boeing Company plans to collaborate with six Chinese universities in establishing Aviation Clubs, with the aim of boosting exploration in aeronautical field through cooperation with and among these clubs. PKU Aviation Club is the initial one.
Al Bryant, Boeing's Vice President for Research and Technology in China, together with Deborah Radasch,
Tim Hammack, Mark Pasquier, Michael Kosinski and Joe Yin, the executives of this project, attended the ceremony. Prof. Chen Shiyi, Dean of College of Engineering, Prof. Han Pingchou, Distinguished Research Fellow Huang Xun and several students were present at the ceremony.
Sponsored by College of Engineering and The Boeing Company, the Aviation Club seeks to provide a
platform for students who are devoted to aviation, and to promote their progress. Prof. Chen and Mr. Bryant delivered speeches respectively, introducing the cooperative relation of the two sides. Prof. Chen said that College of Engineering had always been on a friendly cooperative term with The Boeing Company, and the college intended to promote cooperation with its counterparts in other universities, paving paths for the development of students and the school through the Aviation Club.
Mr. Bryant talked about The Boeing Company's long-lasting relation with China, and spoke highly of the
achievements made by PKU’s College of Engineering. He said that with the help of Aviation Club, students may be able to nurture profounder understanding of aviation and aerospace, and through this club, the company hoped to attract more excellent college students to the aerospace industry and to absorb new thoughts from students’ researches.
As the Director of PKU’s Aviation Club, Huang Xun, Distinguished Research Fellow of College of
Engineering, laid out plans for future work. He hoped that students could make the best of the club to achieve more in the aerospace field.
