Peking University, Beijing, Mar. 24, 2010: PKU Alumnus Prof. Lin Hao won the 2010 The Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) on Jan. 13th. Prof. Lin Hao and other scholars attended the prize-awarding ceremony which was held in the Department of Commerce and the White House, and they also took group pictures with US President Barack Obama to commemorate the moment.

PECASE, the highest award for young experts and scholars, was first founded by former US President Bill Clinton in 1996, aiming to award young scientists and engineers with outstanding contributions in all fields.

Prof. Lin Hao graduated from Qian Jiang High School in Hu Bei Province in 1991 and majored in fluid mechanics in the College of Engineering in Peking University from 1991 to 1996, during which he finished his thesis under the guidance of Prof. Wu Jianghang. Afterwards, he obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering in University of California, Berkeley in 2001 and furthered his post doctorate study in Stanford University from 2001 to 2005. Since 2005, he has been an associated professor in Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. His researches mainly focus on fluid mechanics, but also involve advanced fields, such as micro-transfer and bioengineering. In 2008, Prof. Lin Hao achieved the US Faculty Early Career Development Award (CAREER), and was simultaneously nominated for the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers of that year.
