Peking University, Beijing, November 24, 2008: Dr. Hu Dayi from the Department of Cardiology of Renmin Hospital of Peking University was elected President of Asian-Pacific Heart Association (APHA), which was formally set up at the 19th Great Wall International Congress of Cardiology held in Beijing from October 23 to 26.
The formation of APHA marks a historical milestone in the development of cardiovascular medicine. It heralds a new era in the growth of cardiovascular medicine in the Asia Pacific region.
Meanwhile, APHA has also launched Heart Asia, the cardiovascular journal with the largest circulation in the Asia Pacific region. It represents the combination of the best of academic and research excellence in the Asia Pacific region , and the strength of an established and reputable medical publisher, BMJ publishing group.
According to the message given by President Hu, Heart Asia will feature the best of research and academia from around the world. While its readership is focused on physicians in the Asia Pacific region, its publications will have a global perspective.
Hu also took the position of chief editor of Heart Asia.
