Peking University, April, 27, 2012: President Salva Kiir Mayardit of Republic of South Sudan visited PKU and delivered a speech at Yingjie Overseas Exchange Center on April 25. The delegation was received by PKU president Zhou Qifeng and vice president Li Yansong.

On behalf of PKU, Zhou extended his warmly welcome to President Salva Kiir Mayardit and made a brief introduction of him.
President Kirr delivered his speech
Kirr valued the friendly relationship between China and South Sudan and appreciated the aid from China since its establishment last year. He expressed that South Sudan would make effort to deepen the cooperation in more areas with China and provide a better and safer environment for Chinese investment in his country. Regarding to current conflicts between South Sudan and Sudan, he called for a peaceful solution instead of military. He said that solving border disputes would play a very important role in the peace process, “No border, no peace”, he pointed out.
Located in Africa, Republic of South Sudan declared its independence on July 9, 2011 after years of civil war in Sudan and became the newest country in the world. It is the 54th country in Africa and the 193th member of the United Nations. It has an area of close to 620 meter square and a population of over 8 million.
