Thammasat guests visit PKU

Peking University, Nov. 27, 2012: Somkit Lertpaithoon, Rector of Thammasat University, as well as the delegation, visited Peking University (PKU) on October 22 and was received by PKU Vice President Li Yansong.

The cooperation and exchanges between PKU and Thailand are becoming increasingly frequent, with the establishment of Sino-Thai regional cooperation and the Thai Princess’s visits on many occasions, Li expressed.

 

He emphasized that PKU is willing to enhance amicable exchange with Thammasat University, and pushed further development of the Confucius Institute in Thailand.

 

As they mentioned, Sino-Thai education exchange has ranged from languages and cultures to the field of life science and nanotechnology so far, which also promotes the academic exchanges and visits of each other.

 

Somkit Lertpaithoon wished to further demonstrate the advantages and charm of Asian universities through the bridge between the two universities. With the “Chinese fad” set off in Thailand at present, Thammasat University expected to strengthen the cooperation with PKU.

 

The two parties also made a deep conversation about the future cooperation direction.

Background Info:

 

Thammasat University is one of the oldest universities in Thailand, founded in 1933 and located at the historical and cultural center of Bangkok. In the past decades, it has been a prestigious university which owns 21 departments, 6 colleges and 7 research centers throughout Thailand.
