A Japanese youth delegation of Science and Technology visits Peking University

Peking University, Oct. 26, 2018: In a bid to promote science and technology cooperation between China and Japan, Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China and Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) jointly launched the China-Japan Youth Exchange Program in Science (“the SAKURA Exchange Program in Science”). This program aims at enhancing communication of S&T and culture between China and Japan. The Japanese delegation has visited Chinese universities, research institutes and companies since 2016.


On the scene of the forum


On October 23, the delegation visited Peking University and attended a forum. In the session, Yao Weihao, administrative vice minister of Science and Technology Development Department introduced the situation of Industry-University-Research of Peking University and international cooperation between PKU and Japanese universities and companies. Shinichi Kuroki, deputy director of China Research and Communication Center of JST, expressed his expectation of further communication and cooperation with Peking University in scientific achievements and technological innovations in his address. Professor Li Wenxin, deputy dean of School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science (EECS), made a keynote speech about teaching and innovation of EECS. After that, the delegation visited the Key Laboratory of Machine Perception and Key Laboratory for the Physics and Chemistry of Nano-devices of EECS.


The delegation consists of young cadres and scholars of the Japanese government. Most of them come from Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan (MOFA), Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology-Japan (MEXT), Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW), Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF), Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), RIKEN and Chuo University.
